Cheerleading

Cheerleaders must be in Grades K through 6th.

Do I need a physical?
Yes, all cheerleaders need to get a physical.

Can I cheer if I don't live in the Nordonia School District?
If you go to school in the Nordonia school district you can cheer for the NYF as long as the community you live in does not have a team in the Ohio Gridiron League.

How are the squads made?
There are multiple factors that determine which squad  girls are placed on.  Most Kindergarteners and First graders are placed on the Freshman team (3rd grade).  Every grade after that girls will most likely be placed on the squad that cheers for the football team that matches their grade.  Girls that have brothers that play football will be able to be placed on the squad that cheers for their siblings team.

When do we start practice?
Practices start in August.

How long is practice?
Practice times are determined by the coach, but it is normally from 6:00-8:00 PM. Practice times are usually shortened towards the end of the season.

When are the games?
Tackle football games take place on Saturday's. Location will depend on who you play that week.

How many games do we cheer for?
We cheer for at least 7 games.

I want to coach. How can I get involved with the NYC?
Please fill in that you would like to volunteer as a coach during your online registration. Then email [email protected]
